Grand New Century Hotel, Hangzhou Boao — a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel and flagship property of New Century Hotel Group (Top 30 globally) — required fully customized carpets meeting five-star hospitality standards: high durability, superior acoustic performance, Class B1 flame retardancy, and low-VOC environmental compliance, all while complementing its signature contemporary Chinese interior design. Project Challenges and Requirements
As a high-end business landmark in the core area of Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, the client put forward multiple high requirements for the carpet:
• Style consistency: The carpet must deeply adapt to the hotel's neo-Chinese business style while meeting the aesthetic requirements of the dual brand. Carpets in different areas need to achieve overall coordination in color and pattern, creating a unified and layered spatial atmosphere.
• Functional complexity: High-traffic public areas and corridors require extreme wear resistance and resistance to matting; guest room areas need to ensure quiet foot feel and comfort; the banquet hall and VIP hall need to combine high-end texture with durability, suitable for high-frequency business meeting reception scenarios.
• Delivery timeliness: The project schedule is tight. The carpets must be delivered in precise batches and seamlessly integrated with the overall hotel renovation construction progress, ensuring the hotel opens on schedule and operates smoothly.
• High quality standards: As a high-end business hotel in Hangzhou, there are extremely high standards for carpet environmental protection, flame retardancy, color fastness, and long-term durability, meeting the stringent requirements of long-term reception operations.
Our Solutions and Service Process
Phase 1: In-depth communication and design co-creation
At the beginning of the project, the Dongsheng team conducted multiple rounds of in-depth discussions with the hotel management and interior design company. Combining the hotel's "neo-Chinese business" design theme, they created custom carpet solutions for different spaces.
The designer team developed differentiated design schemes based on the hotel's functional zones and scenario requirements:
★ Public areas / corridors: High-density Axminster carpet was used, focusing on simple and grand neo-Chinese line patterns, balancing resistance to matting and staining with visual coordination, ensuring durability and aesthetics in high-traffic scenarios.
★ Guest room areas: Medium-high density Axminster carpet was used, with soft low-saturation tones, ensuring foot comfort while achieving sound insulation and noise reduction effects, creating a quiet rest space for guests.
★ Banquet hall / meeting rooms / VIP hall: High-pile hand-tufted carpet was used, with custom neo-Chinese patterns. Through rich color layers and three-dimensional surface texture, the carpet enhances the high-end texture and business atmosphere of the spaces, suitable for various high-end conferences and reception scenarios.
Phase 2: Process matching and precise production
After the design solution was finalized, Dongsheng's production team quickly stepped in to match the optimal process for different areas, ensuring that product performance precisely met scenario requirements.
"Public areas and corridors are the 'face' of the hotel. The wear resistance of the carpet directly affects the hotel's operating costs and guest experience, while the banquet hall places more emphasis on texture and grade," said the production manager. For this reason, the project adopted a combined production solution of Axminster + hand-tufted processes:
For the Axminster carpet in public areas and guest rooms, a high-density weaving process was used, greatly improving resistance to matting, staining, and wear, extending service life.
For the hand-tufted carpet in the banquet hall and VIP hall, a high-pile, high-customization process was used. Every pattern detail was hand-finished by skilled workers, presenting a delicate and three-dimensional carpet surface effect, highlighting high-end texture.
All products underwent more than 20 full inspections including color fastness testing, flame retardancy testing, and wear resistance testing before leaving the factory, ensuring compliance with the hotel's high standards of quality and environmental protection.
Phase 3: Flexible production scheduling and on-time delivery
Hotel renovation involved multiple trades working in parallel. The carpet delivery schedule had to be precisely coordinated with the construction progress of each area. Dongsheng initiated the "dedicated project team" model, forming a special team consisting of sales, production, logistics, and after-sales personnel to follow up on the project progress throughout. The production plan was split into 3 batches:
First batch: Axminster carpet for guest rooms and corridors – delivered first to support the guest room renovation schedule.
Second batch: Hand-tufted carpet for the banquet hall, meeting rooms, and VIP hall – delivered in the middle stage to match the public area finishing schedule.
Third batch: Final supplementary and finishing products – delivered for subsequent areas in coordination with the hotel opening schedule.
During the project, a site coordinator was stationed to follow up on construction progress in real time, dynamically adjusting the supply rhythm, ensuring seamless delivery and construction coordination, with no delay to the hotel opening schedule.
Phase 4: On-site installation and full guidanceGuidance
After the carpets arrived on site, Dongsheng's after-sales technical team simultaneously arrived to provide full-process installation guidance.
The technical team provided targeted installation guidance based on the characteristics of different areas:
For large-area banquet halls and meeting rooms, they focused on guiding pattern matching and seaming to ensure continuous and consistent overall patterns.
For edges and finishing areas in guest room corridors, they guided workers on-site in precise cutting and fixing to avoid carpet curling or shifting.
They stayed on site throughout the installation process, promptly solving on-site problems, until all areas passed acceptance inspection, ensuring the installation effect was perfectly realized.
