Background & Design Challenge
Operated under the Wyndham Group, Howard Johnson Zhuji features 306 guest rooms and a 1,000 sqm banquet hall. The hotel's modern design uses warm tones and floral carpet patterns to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
The challenge was balancing this delicate visual aesthetic with functional performance—eliminating echoes in the massive banquet hall while resisting heavy luggage friction in the high-traffic corridors. Dongsheng delivered 3,100 sqm of custom Axminster carpet, perfectly executing the floral designs while using high-density wool construction to deliver both acoustic comfort and long-term durability.
The hotel features a modern minimalist aesthetic. The space is intentionally calm, neutral, and understated—never cold, cluttered, or forced.
Pattern Design: Floral and plant motifs, combined with simple linear patterns, serve as the core carpet designs. This brings natural vitality into the interior, softening the rigid architectural lines and creating a gentle, organic atmosphere for guests throughout the hotel.
Color Scheme: Soft, muted colors establish a warm baseline for the space. Dark furniture and carefully placed colorful accents create depth and contrast, reinforcing a quiet, relaxing environment.
Product Specifications: Axminster carpet was specified to ensure flawless large-area installation, seamless pattern alignment, and exceptional durability for the hotel's long-term, high-traffic daily use.
From the project's outset, our team held multiple in-depth sessions with hotel management and the interior design firm. We aligned on the overall design tone, spatial flow, and the logic behind the soft furnishings.
Once the design plans were finalized, Dongsheng’s production team stepped in immediately. We tailored the Axminster weaving specifications to match the actual usage conditions of each zone, ensuring a balance between aesthetics, wear resistance, and on-site installation compatibility.
“The hotel sees heavy traffic everywhere. With constant footfall in guest rooms and corridors, carpet durability is our absolute top priority,” noted the project production manager. A standard, uniform Axminster weave was used across the entire property. The result is a dense, flat surface that precisely reproduces the floral and linear patterns. The carpets resist buckling and deformation over long-term use, fully meeting the daily durability requirements of hotel operations.
For the narrow, irregular corridor sections, we applied Axminster’s seamless jointing technique. This ensured the large floral patterns remained fully continuous across the floor, with no pattern misalignment or visual breaks. Every finished batch went through a 100% quality inspection before shipment—covering abrasion resistance, colorfastness, flame retardancy, and dimensional stability. The final products are color-consistent with no visible shade variations, fully aligned with the commercial quality benchmarks required for high-end hotels.
Cross-trade construction in hotels poses a major risk of damaging the finished carpet. To prevent this, Dongsheng assigned a dedicated task force to oversee the entire workflow. We centralized the delivery and installation of carpets for guest rooms, public areas, and meeting rooms into a single, concentrated phase. By coordinating a unified move-in schedule, we completely eliminated the contamination and accidental impact that frequently occur with phased construction. For any on-site dimension or pattern adjustments, we established a direct hotline to the factory for expedited changes, ensuring the overall renovation timeline remained firmly on track.
Founded in 1998, Dongsheng operates a fully integrated in-house chain—spinning, twisting, dyeing & finishing, weaving, and packaging—with zero outsourcing.
We run 6 in-house chemical fiber lines that produce nylon and polypropylene yarns. This keeps raw material costs and delivery lead times stable, and shields us from upstream price fluctuations.
Backed by 9 advanced Van de Wiele Axminster looms and 49 imported production lines, we reach an annual output of 23 million square meters. With mature Axminster customization, we handle orders of all sizes—and have a proven track record in delivering large-scale hotel projects, commercial office spaces, and full cruise ship installations.
Leveraging this fully controlled supply chain and our dedicated project teams, we offer a streamlined one-stop service covering design, production, and installation—delivering on all carpeting needs for high-end hotels efficiently.
