Wyndham Hotel Liyang is a high-end business hotel under Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, located in Jiangsu, China. The hotel combines business, conference, and leisure functions, featuring a modern design with a subtle Chinese aesthetic.
Dongsheng Carpet supplied and installed approximately 8,300㎡ of custom Axminster woven carpet and hand-tufted carpet, applied across guest rooms, corridors, and public areas. Dongsheng carpet system was engineered to meet strict hotel standards for durability, acoustic performance, fire resistance, and design consistency, supporting long-term high-traffic commercial use.
Project Challenges and Requirements
As a high-end business benchmark in the core urban area of Liyang, the client put forward multiple high requirements for the carpet:
• Design consistency: The carpet must deeply integrate the hotel's neo-Chinese business style, achieving high consistency with the overall decoration tone through carpet colors and patterns, while different functional areas need differentiated expression.
• Functional complexity: High-traffic areas such as public corridors and the banquet hall require extreme wear resistance and stain resistance. Guest room areas need to balance quiet foot feel and comfort. The VIP hall requires high-end texture and customized solutions.
• Delivery timeliness: The hotel opening date is fixed. Carpets must be delivered in precise batches according to the renovation schedule, and installation must be seamlessly coordinated with multi-trade cross-construction to ensure the schedule is not affected.
• High quality standards: As an international chain hotel, the carpets must meet Wyndham Group's global quality standards. All products must pass strict environmental protection, flame retardancy, color fastness, and long-term durability tests.
Our Solutions and Service Process
Phase 1: In-depth communication and design co-creation
At the beginning of the project, the Dongsheng team conducted multiple rounds of in-depth discussions with the hotel management and interior design company, deeply understanding the hotel's "Zen neo-Chinese" design core.
The designer team combined local landscape and cultural elements of Liyang to create custom carpet solutions for different spaces:
★ Guest room areas: Medium-high density Axminster carpet was used. With a low-saturation blue-grey base color and abstract landscape textures, it echoes the hotel's overall Eastern artistic conception while creating a quiet and comfortable resting atmosphere with soft tones. The foot feel is soft and skin-friendly, balancing durability and comfort.
★ Public corridor areas: High-density wear-resistant Axminster carpet was used, featuring simple lines and geometric patterns with a composed and grand color scheme. It provides excellent resistance to matting and staining. At the same time, through continuous pattern design, it achieves a visual extension in long corridor spaces, echoing the color tones of guest room carpets and forming a smooth visual transition.
★ Banquet hall / meeting rooms / VIP hall: Hand-tufted custom carpets were used, incorporating traditional elements such as ginkgo leaves and auspicious clouds in line with the hotel's neo-Chinese design language. Through bespoke patterns and color combinations, the carpets enhance the solemnity and premium feel of the spaces. The VIP hall carpet uses a hand-carved pile technique to strengthen the three-dimensional effect of the pattern, highlighting high-end texture.
Phase 2: Process matching and precise production
After the design solution was finalized, Dongsheng's production team quickly stepped in to match the optimal process solution according to the functional requirements of different areas:
"Public corridors are the most frequently used areas in the hotel. Wear resistance and stain resistance of the carpet are the top priorities," said the production manager. For this reason, a high-density Axminster process was selected for the corridor areas, using enhanced wear-resistant yarns to greatly improve the carpet's resistance to matting and staining, ensuring it remains in good condition under long-term high-frequency use.
For guest room areas, medium-high density Axminster carpet was used. While ensuring wear resistance, the surface density and yarn twist were optimized to improve foot softness and sound insulation effects, meeting business travelers' needs for a quiet rest environment.
For the hand-tufted carpets in the banquet hall and VIP hall, a high-grammage process and complex jacquard technology were used, combined with hand-carved pile finishing. Every pattern detail was repeatedly refined to ensure the three-dimensional effect and color reproduction of the patterns, perfectly presenting the high-end texture of the design solution.
All products underwent 100% full inspection before leaving the factory, including color fastness testing, flame retardancy testing, wear resistance testing, and other tests, ensuring compliance with Wyndham Group's global quality standards and environmental requirements.
Phase 3: Flexible production scheduling and on-time delivery
Hotel renovation involved multiple trades working in parallel. The carpet delivery schedule had to be precisely coordinated with the construction progress of each area.
Dongsheng initiated the "dedicated project team" model, forming a special team consisting of sales, production, logistics, and after-sales personnel to follow through the entire process. The production plan was split into 3 batches:
First batch: Priority delivery of Axminster carpet for guest rooms and corridors, to support the guest room renovation schedule and reserve sufficient time for subsequent soft furnishing installation.
Second batch: Delivery of Axminster carpet for the banquet hall and meeting rooms, precisely delivered to match the final stage of public area hard decoration, providing support for subsequent large-scale event preparation.
Third batch: Delivery of hand-tufted carpet for the VIP hall, completing the final installation of high-end areas, ensuring the hotel's overall opening schedule is not affected.
Throughout the project, a site coordinator was stationed to follow up in real time, communicating with the renovation schedule and dynamically adjusting the supply rhythm. For on-site minor size adjustment needs during construction, the coordinator responded quickly, contacting the factory on the same day to complete custom cutting and replenishment, ensuring seamless construction coordination.
Phase 4: On-site installation and full guidance
After the carpets arrived on site, Dongsheng's after-sales technical team simultaneously arrived to provide full installation guidance.
"Large-area seamless seaming of Axminster carpet requires the most attention to detail in pattern matching and edge finishing," said the technical supervisor. In public corridor areas, technicians measured the length and curvature of each section on site, guiding workers to perform precise cutting and seaming, ensuring natural pattern transitions and seamless joints with no visible seam marks.
In guest room areas, technicians focused on inspecting the edge finishing between the carpet and walls and baseboards, ensuring smooth edges with no curling. At the same time, for high-traffic areas such as guest room doorways and bedside areas, the installation process was optimized to improve carpet durability and fit.
For the hand-tufted carpets in the banquet hall and VIP hall, technicians stayed on site throughout to guide the precise pattern matching of complex designs, while coordinating construction progress to avoid cross-work contamination or damage to the carpets. The entire installation process took about 25 days, with the technical team following through until all areas passed acceptance inspection.
