Courtyard by Marriott Changsha Hotel is a high-end business hotel developed by Marriott International and China State Construction Engineering Corporation in China.
DongSheng Carpet supplied and installed approximately 9,000㎡ of custom Axminster woven carpet and hand-tufted carpet, used in guest rooms, corridors, and public areas. DongSheng carpet system was designed to meet international hotel standards for durability, acoustic performance, and long-term commercial use.
Project Challenges and Requirements
As a benchmark business hotel project under Marriott, the client imposed multiple high requirements on the carpet project:
• Synchronous delivery of multiple categories: Public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas required zoned synchronous supply, making batch scheduling difficult.
• Strict process and precision control: High precision requirements for custom hand-tufted patterns, needing to balance aesthetics with wear resistance.
• Tight delivery schedule: The hotel opening date was already set, requiring rush delivery to meet deadlines, demanding high coordination between construction and supply.
• High performance standards: Public areas and high-traffic zones had strict standards for wear resistance, flame retardancy, etc., needing to comply with Marriott International's global quality specifications.

Phase 1: In-depth Communication and Design Co-creation
At the start of the project, the Dongsheng team conducted multiple in-depth meetings with the hotel management and interior design firm to fully understand the hotel's "light-luxury business" design positioning.
The design team developed exclusive solutions for different spaces:
★ Public areas and lobby: Hand-tufted carpet was used to create a visual focal point, with simple and elegant geometric lines and soft colors, shaping a light-luxury business atmosphere.
★ Guest rooms: Axminster carpet was selected, with comfortable foot feel and soft tones to create a warm and quiet stay environment, echoing the style of the public areas.
★ Meeting and dining areas: Axminster carpet was used, with high-density weaving, full pile, strong resilience, balancing practicality with spatial style compatibility.
Corridors and elevator halls: Axminster carpet was used to achieve seamless large-area splicing, ensuring a flat carpet surface and natural pattern transitions.
Phase 2: Process Matching and Precision Production
After the design solutions were confirmed, the Dongsheng production team quickly intervened to ensure precise matching of processes with regional functions:
Guest rooms used Axminster high-density weaving process to enhance durability and foot feel.
Core public areas used hand-tufted + three-dimensional carved flower process to enhance pattern three-dimensionality and visual texture.
All products underwent multiple rigorous tests including color fastness, flame retardancy, and wear resistance before leaving the factory, ensuring compliance with Marriott International's global quality standards.
Phase 3: Flexible Production Scheduling and On-Time Delivery
To address the complex situation of cross-construction in multiple hotel areas, Dongsheng activated the "dedicated project team" model, splitting the production plan into multiple orderly batches:
Batch 1: Public areas, conference and dining areas – supplied first according to renovation milestones.
Batch 2: Elevator halls, transition spaces – delivered synchronously as needed;
Batch 3: Guest rooms and floor corridors – precisely delivered to coordinate with the final stages of hard decoration;
Batch 4: Back-of-house office areas – final supply to complete the overall delivery.
The dedicated project team followed through the entire process, assigning on-site coordinators to dynamically adjust supply rhythm, ensuring the hotel opened on schedule.
Phase 4: On-Site Installation and Full Guidance
After the carpets were delivered to the site, the Dongsheng after-sales technical team simultaneously arrived to provide full installation guidance services:
For long and narrow areas such as corridors, on-site measurements were taken and precise cutting and splicing were guided to ensure natural pattern continuity.
Special attention was paid to inspecting edge finishing where carpets met walls and column bases, ensuring flat edges with no lifting.
Technical staff remained on-site throughout to resolve construction difficulties until all areas passed acceptance.
