Maoming Wyndham Grand Hotel is located in the core business district of Maoming, Guangdong Province. The 42-story building is a city landmark, integrating high-end guest rooms, a large pillarless banquet hall, multi-function meeting rooms, and business reception facilities. The hotel adopts a modern Hong Kong-style light luxury design, blending the textures of the South China Sea with oriental minimalist aesthetics. It serves multiple needs including business travel, large weddings, and urban vacations, strictly following Wyndham's global high-end hotel construction standards, and aims to become a benchmark luxury hotel in western Guangdong.

Project Challenges and Requirements

As a five-star city landmark hotel, the owner and Wyndham management put forward four major requirements for the Axminster carpet:


Spatial design consistency

Using waves of the South China Sea and reef lines as core elements, the design theme is consistent across all areas. The guest rooms are tranquil, the banquet hall dignified, and the elevator lobbies minimalist. Patterns in different functional zones are both related and hierarchically differentiated, matching the Hong Kong-style light luxury aesthetic.


Multi-scenario multifunctional performance

The banquet hall requires extremely high wear resistance and compression resistance. Guest room corridors have many curved corners, so the carpet surface must be flat and wrinkle-free. The meeting rooms focus on sound absorption and noise reduction. Guest rooms require a soft foot feel, stain resistance, and easy cleaning. Only one process - Axminster - is used throughout all areas, so it must cover all functional requirements.


Installation in multi-floor irregular spaces

The 42 floors contain many curved corridor corners, irregular edge finishing in elevator lobbies, and large seamless areas in the banquet hall. This requires extremely high precision in carpet seamless joining, pattern matching, and on-site cutting. At the same time, cross-construction on multiple floors means limited installation windows.


International chain brand quality standards

All products must fully comply with Wyndham Group's global environmental, flame retardancy, and wear resistance standards. Every finished carpet must pass full third-party accredited tests, with formaldehyde content, color fastness, and fire rating all meeting the required standards.

Our Solutions and Service Process

Phase 1: In-depth coordination and custom design

The Dongsheng team worked with the hotel management and design company, conducting on-site surveys and multiple rounds of discussions.

Based on the hotel's modern light luxury and business positioning, custom carpet solutions were developed for different functional areas.


Specific solutions:

Lobby, elevator lobbies, corridors: Light grey and beige-coffee Axminster carpet with simple subtle textures and line jacquard patterns, suitable for high traffic and business atmosphere.

Banquet hall, meeting rooms: Darker base with three-dimensional subtle patterns, no complex motifs, enhancing sound absorption to meet conference and banquet needs.

Guest rooms: Soft, low-saturation color tones with minimalist fine textures, warm and comfortable underfoot, visually soothing, creating a quiet resting atmosphere. The color schemes in public areas and guest rooms are unified and stylistically coherent, achieving a smooth visual transition throughout the hotel.

Phase 2: Axminster process adapted to all areas, precise standardized production

For this project, Axminster carpet was used uniformly across all spaces. The production team adjusted the Axminster weaving density and yarn material according to the different performance requirements of the four functional zones, using a single process to meet all usage standards.


"The banquet hall sees heavy traffic, so we specifically increased the yarn weight of the Axminster carpet in that area to enhance wear and stain resistance. For the guest rooms, we optimized yarn softness to improve comfort underfoot," said the production manager.

For the many curved corridors and irregular elevator lobby areas, the production workshop prepared 1:1 Axminster pattern matching templates for installation, pre-cutting irregular sizes to ensure perfect pattern alignment on site.


All Axminster carpets underwent 100% full inspection before leaving the factory, covering more than 20 tests including flame retardancy, wear resistance, color fastness, and environmental emissions. Third-party test reports were provided, meeting Wyndham Group's global procurement standards.

Phase 3: Floor-by-floor flexible production scheduling, phased on-time delivery

The finishing schedules for the guest rooms, banquet hall, and meeting rooms across 42 floors differed, with many overlapping trades. Dongsheng set up a dedicated project team integrating sales, production, logistics, and after-sales staff to follow the entire process, splitting the 9,000 sqm of Axminster carpet into three delivery batches:


First batch: 1,000-seat banquet hall and large/medium meeting rooms (areas where finishing was completed first) - Axminster production finished within 35 days and delivered to the site in full truckloads.

Second batch: All elevator lobbies and lower-floor guest room corridors - delivered to match the finishing schedule of public area hard decoration.

Third batch: Upper-floor guest room carpets - delivered last to avoid contamination from other construction work.


Throughout the project, production progress was visible, with a 24-hour online communication channel. When minor size adjustments were needed on site, the factory was contacted to expedite cutting of Axminster carpet, with replenishment delivered the next day.

Phase 4: Floor-by-floor on-site guidance, meticulous installation in irregular spaces

After all Axminster carpets arrived at the hotel, the Dongsheng professional installation technical team was on site for 18 days, working simultaneously on different floors and providing full technical guidance.

"Axminster carpet offers clear advantages for large seamless areas, but curved corridors demand high skill from workers in cutting and seaming," said the on-site technical specialist.

For the curved corridors on each guest room floor, technicians measured the curvature section by section on site and guided workers in precisely cutting the Axminster fabric, ensuring seamless joining of the wave patterns. In the banquet hall, the focus was on edge finishing around columns and walls, eliminating curling or exposed gaps. After each guest room was installed, the flatness of the carpet surface was checked to avoid wrinkles.

During the installation period, technical staff were on site full time, handling various detail issues such as irregular edge finishing and pattern adjustments, until all carpet areas in the hotel passed acceptance.
