Dongsheng Axminster Carpet Certified to ISO 354: 0.31 Sound Absorption Coefficient, NRC 0.3

Dongsheng Carpet has added ISO 354 sound absorption certification to its Axminster range. The sample the mill submitted returned a sound absorption coefficient of 0.31 and a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 0.3, giving the range a measurable acoustic figure to put in front of specifiers.

Dongsheng's Axminster range already holds CRI, EN 13501, ASTM E648, ASTM D2859, BS 4790 and ISO 105 certification. With ISO 354 added, Dongsheng now covers indoor air quality, flame spread, smoke density, colour fastness and sound absorption in one quality system, and the range meets the technical requirements of four- and five-star hotels and commercial venues. Consultants, contractors and buyers get all five report sets from Dongsheng, without testing the same product at several suppliers.

Tested in a reverberation room, Dongsheng's Axminster sample returned a sound absorption coefficient of 0.31 and an NRC of 0.3. At that level the carpet takes the edge off mid- and high-frequency reflection and shortens reverberation, which suits the large floor areas of cinema auditoriums, hotel ballrooms and guest-floor corridors: dialogue comes through cleaner, and the noise of trolleys and conversation drops. Laid wall to wall, the woven Axminster floor forms one continuous absorptive surface, which is why Dongsheng recommends broadloom over carpet tiles for auditorium and ballroom work.
